I was seated at my desk in the cozy confines of my cabin, deeply engrossed in reviewing a complex file filled with data and projections for our upcoming projects. The quiet atmosphere was suddenly interrupted by a gentle knock on my door. When I looked up, my assistant, Aryan Sinha, stood there, holding a stack of additional files.
"Come in, Aryan," I called, gesturing for him to enter. He stepped inside and placed the files on the polished surface of my mahogany table, neatly arranging them for easy access.
With an air of professionalism, he informed me, "Sir, just a quick reminder that you have an important meeting scheduled for 4 PM today regarding the upcoming project with RR Company. We must finalize the presentation."
I nodded, recalling the discussions we had about this pivotal partnership. "Yes, I remember the meeting well," I replied. "Please provide me with the detailed information we need to cover before we head to the conference room."
"Sir," he responded, his tone reassuring, as he gathered the necessary documents. With a polite nod, he exited my office, leaving me to gather my thoughts.
Aryan is more than just an assistant; he has been my most trusted colleague from the very beginning of my career. Through every challenge and every success, his relentless support and keen insights have been invaluable. As I prepared for the meeting, I couldn't help but appreciate the strong professional bond we had built over the years.

While I was meticulously going through my files, my phone rang. It was my best friend, Dhruv Singhania, who happens to be the charismatic CEO of Singhania Jewellers. Dhruv's warm and affable demeanor always reminds me of a playful golden retriever, full of energy and a desire to be around people. Our friendship dates back to our school days when we forged a bond that has only strengthened over the years; we are practically inseparable.
One of Dhruv's quirks is his tendency to cling to me, his playful nature shining through as he playfully ignores my eye-rolls in response. He knows it drives me a bit crazy, yet he revels in teasing me about my irritation. His charm and ability to light up a room with his presence are undeniable, but I would never admit that to him-it's my little secret, shrouded in playful rivalry.
I picked up his call,
Me: "Hello, let's not waste any time. I need to get straight to the point," I said, my tone icy and authoritative, conveying urgency.
Him: "Hey, there's no need to be so harsh," he responded, feigning a hurt expression as he dramatically placed a hand over his heart and pouted. "Your coldness is affecting me," he added with a mock whimper, trying to lighten the mood despite my serious demeanor.
Me: "I'm giving you just 5 seconds to get straight to the point of your call. If you can't do that, I'll have to hang up."
Him: "Is it not okay for me to call you whenever I have some free time?"
After hearing that, I hung up the call and put it on silent mode; otherwise, this idiot would call again and disturb me.
After a brief wait of about 10 to 15 minutes, Aryan walked into the room with a serious expression on his face. He relayed a message from my father, emphasizing the urgency of the situation. "Your father asked me to let you know that you need to call him back as soon as you can," he said, clearly conveying the importance of the message. I could sense that something significant was on his mind, which heightened my curiosity about what my father wanted to discuss.
He rarely calls me, and when he does, it's usually something significant. A sense of urgency washed over me as I grabbed my phone. I noticed three missed calls and three unread messages from Papa, each one possibly holding important news or updates. Curiosity and concern swelled within me; I could only guess what might be so urgent that he needed to reach out to me multiple times.
First I opened messages
Papa: Good morning, Beta.
Papa: I have a favor to ask of you. Would you be able to join your mother and me for an important inauguration ceremony today? Mr. Sharma has graciously invited our entire family to celebrate this special occasion.
Papa: Whenever you get a chance to read this message, please give me a call back so we can discuss it further.
I am acquainted with Mr. Sharma, the CEO of DreamHaven, an esteemed interior design firm celebrated globally for its innovative and luxurious designs. For nearly a decade, DreamHaven has been a valued business partner of our family, collaborating on various projects and ventures that have strengthened our ties. However, I was surprised to hear about an upcoming inauguration, as I hadn't heard anything about Mr. Sharma launching a new company. This has piqued my curiosity. I think I should reach out to my father to get more information about this unexpected development.
I called Papa without delay, eager to catch up. He answered the phone promptly.
Me: "Hello, Papa!"
Him: "Hello! I tried to reach you earlier, but you didn't pick up."
Me: "I'm sorry, Papa. My phone was set to silent mode, and I was deep into preparations for our upcoming project."
Him: "Oh, I understand."
Me: "By the way, what's this inauguration you mentioned? Is Mr. Sharma launching a new branch of his business?"
Him: "No, not quite. His elder daughter is starting her venture, and Mr. Sharma reached out to me to see if our family could come together to show our support for her."
Me: "Oh, I see! But do I need to be there? I assume since you all are going, that should be enough. To be honest, I don't even remember her very well."
Him: "Mr. Sharma has extended the invitation to all of us. I think it would mean a lot if you could join, even just for a short time. You could always leave afterward."
Me: "Alright, Papa, I'll make it a point to come. Please send me the timings and the address of the venue; I'll head straight there."
Him: "Thank you so much, beta."
Me: "Okay, Papa. I look forward to seeing everyone at the venue!"
After I finished my statement, I ended the call. Mr. Sharma's daughter was starting her venture interesting...
I glanced at the clock and realized it was almost 10:30 a.m. The venue was about 20 to 25 minutes away, not accounting for traffic. If I wanted to arrive on time, I needed to leave now.
Just as I was about to leave my dear friend, Mr. Dhruv Singhania barged into my office without any warning.
"Why are you here?" I asked him.
"To see you, my dear bestie," he replied with a mocking smile. "You hung up the call, and that's why I came to see you," he added, and I glared at him.
"Look, I don't have time to argue today. I need to leave for an important function," I said.
"What's more important than your dear best friend? Huh? I'm hurt," he said, wiping his fake tears.
"Shut up and drop your act. If you want to come you can also join" I said in an irritated tone.
" Now that's like my Shivi," he said while grinning like a fool.
"Don't you dare call me that otherwise, I will throw you out of my office," I said angrily. I despise the nickname he has given me. Whenever he uses that name I just want to punch his face.
"Ok ok I won't call you that name but you have to take me with you," he said while giggling.
As I stepped out of my cabin, I noticed him trailing behind me. Without any hesitation, he slid into the passenger seat of my car.
"Why on earth are you following me? Don't you have your car, or has Mr. Singhania run out of money?" I asked, raising an eyebrow in disbelief.
"I just want to spend more time with you," he replied, feigning a hurt expression as he glanced my way. "But look at you; you never seem to appreciate my efforts. And by the way, I care about the environment. That's why I'm carpooling-to do my part in saving it," he added, his tone earnest. I shot him an annoyed glare, unsure whether to be irritated or amused by his nonsense.
The silence in the car stretched for a few minutes before he broke it with another question. "So, where are we headed?"
"Isn't it a bit early to ask?" I retorted with a hint of sarcasm. Then, with an exasperated sigh, I continued, "My father called to let me know about an inauguration event for..." I trailed off, unable to finish my thought before he interrupted me.
"Whose event?" he pressed, cutting me off.
"Do. Not. Interrupt," I said slowly, emphasizing each word to make my point clear. He raised his hands in surrender, his expression shifting to one of faux humility, and nodded for me to carry on.
"Mr. Sharma's eldest daughter is launching her new business, so Mr. Sharma invited my entire family to show our support," I explained, glancing briefly at him, half-expecting another interruption.
"Really? What kind of business is she starting?" he asked, curiosity piqued.
"I don't know," I replied, shaking my head. "I guess we'll find out when we arrive at the event."
After about 30 to 35 minutes, we finally reached the venue. The traffic was no joke.
When we finally arrived at the venue, I discovered that the inauguration ceremony had already concluded. I quickly dialed Papa's number, trying to find out where he and the others were. As I spoke into the phone, I glanced around and realized I was standing in front of a charming book café. Its warm, inviting exterior was adorned with large windows that let in streams of natural light, showcasing the cozy interior filled with shelves brimming with books. A wave of curiosity washed over me-did she intend to open a book café? Interesting...

Papa told me they were with Mr. Sharma and his family. Ok, now I have to search for them.
Suddenly Dhruv spoke
" Dude I never imagined Mr. Sharma's daughter's new business would be a book cafe, but I must say I'm quite Impressed. It is exactly what its name suggests"
" Yeah," I replied being lost in a thought.
Flashback
"Shivvvvvv," Dhrishti whined, her voice filled with a mixture of longing and excitement.
I turned to her, concern etched on my face. "What's on your mind, baby?" I asked softly, hoping to understand her thoughts.
With a dreamy expression, she replied, "You know, I've always dreamed of opening my very own book café. Just imagine it-a cozy space filled with the rich scent of freshly brewed coffee and the whisper of pages turning. I love books, and I love food. It would be the perfect place for people to gather, share stories, and enjoy delicious treats."
I couldn't help but tease her a little, my voice playfully dramatic. "And what about me? Don't you love me? Huh?" I said, feigning a hurt expression, trying to lighten the mood even as she shared her heartfelt ambitions.
"Ole my Shiv, you mean the world to me; I love you more than anything," she said softly, pressing her lips against my cheeks, her warmth enveloping me like a comforting blanket.
I let out a soft giggle, relishing the moment, and leaned in to return her affectionate kiss. "I know how much you adore me, but teasing you is just too much fun," I replied with a playful grin. She narrowed her eyes mischievously and playfully tapped my chest, a feigned look of annoyance dancing across her face as I pulled her into a warm embrace.
"In the future," she continued, her eyes sparkling with excitement, "if I ever open a cozy book café, I will name it after something that reflects our unique bond and the love we share." She tightened her embrace as if drawing strength from the moment we were sharing.
"I promise that I'll make every single one of your dreams come true," I declared earnestly, gazing deeply into her eyes, wanting her to see the sincerity radiating from my words.
"Thank you so much," she replied, her voice trembling with emotion. "You have no idea how much those words mean to me." Tears began to shimmer in her eyes, each one a testament to the depth of her feelings.
Gently, I wiped away her tears with my fingertips and said, "I love you, Dhrishu. My love for you is unwavering and will endure forever."
With a radiant smile spreading across her face, she responded, "I love you too, Shiv." In that moment, the world around us faded, leaving just the two of us tangled in our love.
Flashback ends
As I strolled through the cafe, my mind drifted into a reverie of memories spent with Dhrishu. I recalled our laughter echoing through the park, our late-night conversations under the starlit sky, and the promises I had made to her-vows of friendship and support through thick and thin. The warmth of those nostalgic moments wrapped around me, making me momentarily oblivious to the world around me.
Suddenly, a jolt pulled me back to reality as someone unexpectedly collided with me. Startled, I stumbled slightly and......
